The Young Muslims Mindful Book of Well-Being: Book Review by Muslim Mommy Blog
The Young Muslims Mindful Book of Well-Being
This book by Zanib Mian and published by Muslim Children's Books is a must-have for children ages 7 and up. While the title says it is The Young Muslim’s Mindful Book of Well-Being, I honestly felt like it was a Young Muslim’s guide to Eeman (faith). I honestly learned a lot from it and enjoyed using it as a talking point with my kids about their faith in Allah.⠀ ⠀ The book starts with the topic of the Love of Allah and that when someone knows that Allah loves them, they can be truly happy. And part of loving Allah is doing what Allah wants us to do, and avoiding what he wants us to avoid. ⠀ ⠀ This reminded me of this beautiful hadith: ⠀ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Allah says: ‘..My slave does not draw closer to Me by anything more beloved to Me than that which I have made obligatory upon him, and My slave continues to draw closer to Me by doing naafil (supererogatory) deeds until I love him, and if I love him I will be his hearing with which he hears, his vision with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. If he were to ask of Me, I would surely give to him; if he were to seek refuge with Me, I would surely grant him refuge..” ⠀ ⠀ What a wonderful hadith to teach to our children. What could we teach them better than to have faith in Allah and turn to the One who holds all the power to grant them their wishes and protect them from all evil.⠀ ⠀ The book teaches them to make duaa to Allah and ask Him for help from anything that bothers them. ⠀ ⠀ I like how the book mentions the impact of smiling and positive thinking. These are also part of our deen, and are important to teach to our kids. We should focus not only on teaching prayers and fasting, but also Islamic manners and behaviors, as well as life skills to help them turn to Allah when they feel lost. ⠀ ⠀ The book also addresses jealousy, dealing with bad things happening, and dealing with an unanswered duaa, and if you don’t get something you want.⠀ ⠀ Honestly, I plan to save this book and re-read it to my kids often. ⠀ ⠀ Get yours now from Crescent Moon Store for 10 dollars.
