Attention Teachers, Educators, Parents, and Librarians!
If you have a young child in elementary school, you know that AR (accelerated reading) books and tests are a big deal. These tests are used in schools to help raise a child’s reading level and help them with their vocabulary and reading comprehension.
Studies show that children that read more books, do better at school. If those children are Muslim, chances are that you want them to be surrounded by books that reflect their own diversity and help them see themselves in the stories that they are reading.
I have compiled a list of books about Muslim kids, with their AR points and Book levels included. Note that these are Traditionally published books, as I could not find any Islamic publishing books AR levels.
Please share this with your Muslim parents, Islamic educators, Islamic schools, your public schools (many of which want more diverse books), or even donate some to your local library to help bring more awareness to diverse Muslim-led books.
To help you with understanding the list, AR means points earned (how much reading is done), and BL means grade level- so 2.2 would be second grade in the second month of school.
