Ilyas and Duck-Ramadan Joy
This Ramadan book by Ilyas & Duck is perfect for ages 4 and up.⠀ ⠀ The book starts with Ilyas and Duck talking about Ramadan, with goofy comments by Duck (as usual) and Ilyas teaching the kids valuable lessons about the purpose of Fasting. Duck is not happy about waiting for iftar, and his funny and goofy responses never fail to make my children laugh. The book includes a villain “Mister Mean” who is trying to ruin Ramadan in various ways, one of which is by putting cookie crumbs to tempt kids into breaking their fast. (This really made my children giggle) ⠀
Ilyas and Duck chase him out of town, and they focus on doing as much good deeds as they can for the rest of Ramadan.⠀ ⠀ I like how the book focuses the importance of changing our habits into good characteristics like patience, compassion, and taqwa, in addition to fasting from food/drink.⠀ ⠀ The end of the book contains a comical newspaper with fun facts about Ramadan, and the answers to the crossword puzzle that is a free printable on the Ilyas and Duck site.⠀ ⠀ The Ramadan crossword puzzle is really entertaining for the kids to do. It has pictures of the cute characters and an encouraging message about defeating Mister Mean and solving the puzzle. A wonderful free activity to go with the book.⠀ ⠀ I also loved these fun tattoos from ModernEID .These are perfect to use in a fun story time with the kids. It really helped my kids engage more with the story and remember all the Ramadan facts they learned.⠀ ⠀ I still have one question though...⠀ Where did Mister Mean disappear to? Maybe Ilyasandduck can answer this; where did Mister Mean go? Will he come back to make more mischief someday? (Could this be a possible sequel😉) ⠀ ⠀ Get yours from Crescent Moon Store and use code Muslimmommy for ten percent off your order!
